Candidate Questions

The first step on your career journey with DTS is to create a user profile on our website. Once your profile is created, you will be added to our Talent Network. Becoming a part of the DTS Talent Network provides two major benefits: 1.) You will receive automatic email notifications every time we add a job opening that matches what you’re looking for in a new position and 2.) Should your skills and experience match one of our job openings, a recruiter will reach out to you about the position. In order to maximize the effectiveness of our Talent Network in your career search, we recommend that you keep your profile and resume up-to-date to ensure you receive updates about the most relevant opportunities available.

Yes! In fact, the benefits we offer our employees are among the best in the industry. In addition to our industry-leading benefits, once you’re hired by DTS all of your benefits will begin on the first day of the month following your start date. For example, if your start date is July 31st, all of your benefits take effect on August 1st – the most you will ever have to wait for your benefits to begin is 30 days if your start date falls on the 1st of the month. Changing jobs is exciting, but it can also be a little nerve-wracking if you have a lapse of insurance coverage – DTS aims to put your fears to rest by providing excellent benefits that start almost immediately instead of making you wait the customary 90-days like most other companies.

Our second-to-none benefits include:

Contract lengths will vary based on the company’s contingent labor needs ranging from a couple of weeks to several years. Most contract positions listed on our jobs page include the initial anticipated contract duration in the job description. Some contract opportunities may be open-ended without a clearly defined end date, while others may be contract-to-hire job opportunities where the company retains the right to hire the contractor (you) as a direct employee after a predetermined duration of contract employment – this duration varies based on what was agreed upon by DTS and the client but it is normally six months or 1,040 hours worked.

A “Contract-to-Hire” position is a job opportunity in which the employer initially brings you on as a contractor and then after a set length of time, the company can decide to hire you directly as a permanent employee of their own. We have agreements in place with all of our partners that outline the set length of time a contractor will work for the company before they retain the right to hire them permanently. This set length of time can vary from client to client; however, the industry standard is typically six months or 1,040 hours, whichever comes first. Once the length of contract employment is reached, if the company elects to hire you permanently, you become their employee through completing their new-hire paperwork and enrolling in their benefits. That said, just because the set length of time before a company can hire you directly passes, this doesn’t mean they are immediately obligated to hire you as a permanent employee – they can also elect to continue having you work for them as a contractor or, although it’s rare, they could end your contract without extending a permanent job offer.

Some of the benefits of contract-to-hire positions include:

  • The opportunity to “try out” a company before you fully commit to permanently working for them. During the contract duration of your employment you will have the chance to evaluate their company culture, the work environment, management, and the job itself. You can think of it as an extended tryout, of course you’re trying out for the company, but the company is also trying out for you. The end goal is that you’re a match for the company, but more importantly, the company is also a match for you based on your needs and career goals.
  • You also have the opportunity to demonstrate your value during the contract period of your employment. Unlike direct-hire jobs, where you agree upon a salary and benefits before you’ve had the chance to show the company exactly what you can do in the role, with a contract-to-hire position you can show them how valuable of an asset you could be to their organization before they hired you permanently which gives you more leverage to negotiate salary and benefits when the time comes for them to make you a permanent job offer because you have successfully demonstrated your skills and what you bring to the table.

DTS pays its contract employees on a bi-weekly basis. The work week runs from Monday to Sunday. DTS employees will receive your paycheck or direct deposit every other Friday. If you were placed in a direct-hire role by DTS, you will be paid in accordance with your new company’s payroll policies.

The exact process may vary depending on the client, but generally, all timesheets must be approved by your direct supervisor and submitted to our HR team no later than Tuesday morning in order for payroll to be processed in a timely manner.

Of course! If you are open to new job opportunities but don’t see a particular position listed on our jobs page that interests you or matches your skills and experience, you can send us your resume here. You may also create a user profile which will add you to our career portal. By becoming a member of our career portal, you can set up your job preferences and when we have positions that meet your criteria you will receive an email alert.

While DTS hires most of its employees on a W-2 basis, certain job openings may provide candidates the opportunity to work as an independent contractor on a 1099 basis. Bear in mind that independent contractors will be responsible for their own taxes at the end of the year and will receive a 1099 form in order to self report income on their tax return. DTS generally does not hire contractors via corp-to-corp arrangements.
